SUMMARY:4th Bi-Annual Garden Party
DESCRIPTION:The garden party is a bi-annual event hosted at The Chapman House. The party was inspired by the previous owners. During the late 1950s and early 1960s the previous owners had a lovely tulip garden in the back yard. The tulip garden was open to the public for a fee each spring. During renovation\, the original "garden open" sign was discovered and we hope that with the town's approval we can use it to indicate when our garden is open! \n\n\n\nIn honor of this tradition\, The Chapman House has a community planting and garden work day twice a year\, in the spring and fall. Community members kindly bring a plant from their garden to plant into ours so that we can recreate the beautiful gardens that once thrived in this yard. Each plant receives a metal plant marker. The marker denotes the name of the person who donated the plant\, the type of plant and the year it was planted. Go\n\n\n\nIf you don't have a plant out of your garden to share\, we welcome all hands who are willing to plant plants\, mulch and plant fresh from the nursery plants. It is a great community event that takes place from 9am-12pm. \n\n\n\nIn the evening\, we return to visit the garden from 8pm-12midnight and to celebrate our efforts. I provide snacks and and music. We dance the night away! The event is BYOB and outside so dress warm.\n\n\n\nA special thank you goes out to the following supporters who have helped make the garden party a success in the past. Their support and encouragement has been what has kept me going many days. Allen Pence\, Jeff Taylor and Don Harrell\, Nina and John Wolf\, Bill and Rhonda Fisher\, Lou and Bonnie Anthony\, Gail Kyle\, Susan and Al Betcher\, Eric Johnson\, Star Johnson\, Diane and Bobby Turner\, Tersea and Roberto Coppola\, Matt Szymanik\, Crystal and Shandy Turner and many more.\n\n\n\nI hope to see you at the planting. Please bring shovels and gloves if you have them. \n\n\n\nWish list...however\, I am grateful for any plants\n\n-lilac\n\n-shrubs and anything that stays green\n\n-periwinkle\n\n-tall grass\n\n-bulbs of all kinds a tribute to the previous owners.
