DESCRIPTION:Taught by Denise Horton\n\n$10 for one session\, Apr 2\, 2016 at 10 am\n\n\n\nWhether you have suffered from trauma yourself\, or have been "vicariously" traumatized through disturbing news events/the media\, this workshop will explore: \n\n\n\n-Current research and treatments for trauma and PTSD\, including eye movement therapy (EMDR)\, Somatic Experiencing (SE/Dr. Peter Levine)\, The Body Keeps the Score (Dr. Bessel van der Kolk) \n\n\n\n-Effects of trauma on victims\, first responders\, and caregivers ("vicarious trauma")\n\n\n\n-What to Do: "psychological first aid" for trauma for yourself and your family\n\n\n\n-Soul Loss - the effects of trauma on the spirit\, heart\, and moral compass\; War and the Soul (Dr. Ed Tick)\n\n\n\nDr. Denise Horton is a licensed clinical psychologist\, artist\, and writer\, specializing in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. Dr. Horton received her academic training at Harvard University\, George Washington University\, and Georgetown University\, with advanced training in Trauma\, Attachment\, and Loss. She is in private practice in Charlottesville VA\, and had a parttime practice in Rappahannock County for many years.She is a professional member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. \n\n\n\nDr. Horton's advanced training in trauma has included: Psychiatric Institute of Washington DC/Trauma Center\; Center for Mind-Body Medicine/Wounded Warriors Program (Fellowship)\; Intl.
