Blue Ridge Mountain Mudurance 5K Mud Race
The Blue Ridge Mountain Mudurance is a 5K (3.1 miles) mud and obstacle race. For our 3rd year, we’ve teamed up with the Page County Fire & EMS to help them raise funds for a new 4-wheel drive transport vehicle.
Each year, the obstacles have grown in creativity and this year will be no different. The confirmed returning obstacles that racers will encounter along the way include: a 6’ climbing wall, 150’ water slide, mud trenches, sandbag and cinderblock carries, tractor tires, balance beams, hay bale climb, tunnels, tire drag, tire mountain, and muddy army crawls. The Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce has some new ideas in mind to keep the event fresh and to keep returning competitors on their toes.
Originally held at Bear Mountain Ziplines, this year’s race has been moved to the Town of Luray’s Ralph H. Dean Recreation Park. Desiring to be less of a trail run up the side of a mountain and more of a fun 5K for friends and families alike, race organizers have decided on the move. This year the course promises to have hills and such, but will be focused predominately on the mud, water, and obstacles.
Locals may know Ralph H. Dean Recreation Park for its community playground and ball fields, but there are acres of unused land beyond that, which is where the race will be taking place! Course maps will be up on the website before the race so participants can see and get a feel for what is ahead before the day-of. We encourage pairs and teams of 4-8 to participate, because everything’s more fun with your friends and co-workers!
