The Luray American Legion Post will conduct its annual memorial service for The Four Chaplains, who selflessly gave their lives so others might live. On February 1st at the American Legion hall on Zirkel Street, Luray, we will honor the lives of one Catholic, one Jewish, and two Protestant Navy Chaplains who gave their life jackets to four sailors who had none, and who embraced each other as they, along with 668 other brave souls, went down in very cold waters on a dark February night off the coast of Greenland. The service will begin at 1 pm. Light refreshments will be available following the memorial service. For additional information please contact Rich Worrell by calling 843-2565.
