“Stories of the Valley” is this year’s theme for the annual Deyerle Program Series on Local History, to be held at 7 PM on Thursday evenings throughout the month of October at MRL’s Central Library in downtown Harrisonburg. The Deyerle Program Series features local historians, scholars and area experts who explore a broad range of subjects surrounding the history of the central Shenandoah Valley.
“Haunted History of Harrisonburg” This program features Lisa Ha, founder of and guide for Haunted Harrisonburg Ghost Tours. There is more to a good ghost story than unexplained bumps in the night and mysterious translucent beings. Ghost stories teach history to captivated audiences, revealing much about a culture’s values surrounding living, dying, love and trauma. During the evening, Ha will share local superstitions, tales of hauntings, and the art of keeping the undead portion of Harrisonburg’s oral tradition alive.
